It appears that that McCloud (Northern California) Railway's famous steam locomotive Engine #18 will be moving to a new home in Carson City, Nevada and that the Sunday Excursion of August 7 was her swansong.
Rumors are also in the air that the remaining McCloud Railway excursions, which include the Dinner Trains, may come to an end as well due to poor track conditions and the high costs of repair and replacement.
Local residents are worrying about what will then draw tourists (and dollars) to their small town, which was once a bustling timber center.
