Son of God (Good Confession) (Mat 4:3 NRSV) The tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." (Mat 4:6 NRSV) saying to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, 'He will command his angels concerning you,' and 'On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.'" (Mat 14:33 NRSV) And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." (Mat 26:63 NRSV) But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath before the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God." (Mark 3:11 NRSV) Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, "You are the Son of God!" (Luke 4:3 NRSV) The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread." (Luke 4:9 NRSV) Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, (Luke 4:41 NRSV) Demons also came out of many, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah. (Luke 22:70 NRSV) All of them asked, "Are you, then, the Son of God?" He said to them, "You say that I am." (John 1:34 NRSV) And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God." (John 1:49 NRSV) Nathanael replied, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" (John 5:25 NRSV) "Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. (John 11:4 NRSV) But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." John 11:20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary stayed at home. John 11:21 Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. John 11:22 But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him." John 11:23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." John 11:24 Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day." John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, John 11:26 and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:27 She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world." John 11:28 When she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary, and told her privately, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you." John 11:29 And when she heard it, she got up quickly and went to him. John 11:30 Now Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. John 11:31 The Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary get up quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought that she was going to the tomb to weep there. John 11:32 When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." John 11:33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. John 11:34 He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." John 11:35 Jesus began to weep. John 11:36 So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" John 11:37 But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?" John 11:38 Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. John 11:39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." John 11:40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" John 11:41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. John 11:42 I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." John 11:43 When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" John 11:44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go." John 11:45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him. John 11:46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what he had done. (John 11:27 NRSV) She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world." (John 19:7 NRSV) The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God." (John 20:31 NRSV) But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. (Acts 9:20 NRSV) and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God." (2 Cor 1:19 NRSV) For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not "Yes and No"; but in him it is always "Yes." (Gal 2:20 NRSV) and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Eph 4:13 NRSV) until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. (Heb 4:14 NRSV) Since, then, we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. (Heb 6:6 NRSV) and then have fallen away, since on their own they are crucifying again the Son of God and are holding him up to contempt. (Heb 7:3 NRSV) Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. (Heb 10:29 NRSV) How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by those who have spurned the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace? (1 John 3:8 NRSV) Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 4:15 NRSV) God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. (1 John 5:5 NRSV) Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:10 NRSV) Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. (1 John 5:12 NRSV) Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:13 NRSV) I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:20 NRSV) And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (Rev 2:18 NRSV) "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze: (1 Tim 6:12 NRSV) Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Tim 6:13 NRSV) In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you (1 Tim 6:14 NRSV) to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
