Why are politics so confusing ?
The people we used to call liberals when I was growing up
are now the true conservatives, because they are trying to
keep what we have and build society up from there.
The people that call themselves conservatives today
(year 2000) are the real radicals who are trying to tear
things up apparently seeking change simply for the sake of change.
You can't get off !
If you are alive, then you are part of this political system!
Inscription from the Left side of the entrance to the Oregon State Capital:
"A Free State Is Formed and Maintained By the Voluntary Union of the Whole People, Joined Together Under the Same Body of Laws, For the Common Welfare, And the Sharing of Benefits Justly Apportioned"
Can we all agree, simply:
That the doctrine of separation of church and state was intended to mean that the Federal Government will not set up a state religion, such as was done in England with the Anglican Church. People will remain free to follow their own religious convictions, neither endorsed, nor hampered by that government.
Is this not one of the reasons people left England and Europe for America ?
Could we not also agree that:
A well armed militia comprised of a body of citizens is necessary for our protection from tyranny.
But the right to carry arms should be earned through the demonstration of unquestionable civic responsibility.
In other words, only good guys can carry guns!
"I pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, "Under God" indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"
" Under God "Added in our life time and today not often adhered to, but is it necessary for a viable society?
Yes, though one must remember that any faith's God is acceptable, and what really matters in a society is that each individual learn to live by the
Golden Rule, and adhere to some code of moral conduct, whatever that code's source.
Has there ever been a successful Godless society in the history of man?
We may tend to be spiritual people because we are for the most part decendents of spiritual/religious people.
